DIY Shaving Cream

Before I made this DIY shaving cream, I was using body wash. The problem is it would dry out my legs and wouldn't really work that well. At this point, I switched to using plain coconut oil, but I would often use too much or it wouldn't really work that well either.

I then started to look for something better, I stumbled upon this recipe. I can't remember how I found it but I am so glad that I did!

Note: If you know who the creator is, let me know so I can properly acknowledge them in this post.

It's really easy to make and doesn't take a lot of time. You may use any fragrance you want,. It also moisturizes your legs and gives a close shave, Lastly, both men and women can use it!

What you will need:
Vitamin E oil or Cinnamon bark essential oil (for a preservative)
Your choice of essential oils for fragrance
Glass mixing bowl
A pot
A wisk
A glass container for your shaving cream—dark in color is preferable

Ingredients and measurements:
3/4 cup Shea or Cocoa butter
1/2 cup Coconut oil
3 tablespoons Almond oil
A few drops of Vitamin E oil or 10-15 drops Cinnamon bark essential oil (after cooling)

Directions:
Add the shea—or cocoa—butter, almond oil, and if you are using Vitamin E oil you can also add it into your glass mixing bowl.

Put your glass mixing bowl into a pot. Add water to the pot (not the mixing bowl).

Once everything is melted put your mixture in the fridge for 8 hours, any longer and it will have to soften in order to use the wisk.

Wisk until creamy.

Once you are done, add the essential oils (10-15 drops) of your choice, then mix those in real quick.

Now add your mixture into your container.

Store in a cool dry place.

  2. I have not used regular shaving cream for many years. My daughter had me try this shaving cream to see if I liked it. I didn't like it. I loved it. Great glide and moisturizes at the same time. A win. BTW I am ready for more.
